MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Eastern Illinois swimming broke four new school records during the third day of the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. on Friday evening. EIU has broken nine school records in the past three days of competition.
Corinne Staneart continued her record breaking weekend at the championships with a new school record in the 100 yard breaststroke. Her finals time of 1:04.34 is now the top time at EIU after defeating her old time of 1:04.85 which she set in the preliminary stage. She also won the B final in the event.
After claiming the EIU top time in the men's 50 yard freestyle yesterday,
Dismas Dillon claimed another EIU record in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.19. The previous best time was set in 2020 by current Panther
Alex Adams (50.40).
Andrew Herman would also take second in the B Final of the 100 yard backstroke with a finals time of 49.52.
Camryn Lewis also set a new personal best in the women's 100 back with a time of 57.99.
To conclude Friday's events, both 400 medley relay teams broke the EIU all-time records. The women's team of Lewis, Staneart,
Izzy Glasgow and
Autumn Grinter finished with a time of 3:52.42. The previous record (3:52.46) was set during the 2014 season.
On the men's side, the team of Herman,
Canyon Bain,
Alex Adams and
Conner Colston finished with a time of 3:23.12 which defeated the old record set in 2011 (3:23.26).
The Panthers will conclude their week at the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. with the finals starting at 5:30 p.m. Video and Livestats are provided.
