Eastern Illinois men's and women's track & field both excelled in the class room this past academic year with both programs earning USTFCCCA Team All-Academic honors on Thursday (July 13). In addition senior women's athlete
Akiya Kollore earned USTFCCCA Scholar-Athlete honors for her performance both athletically and academically.
To earn USTFCCCA Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete must rank among the Top 96 in their event during the indoor season or qualify for the NCAA Regional during the outdoor season all while maintaining a 3.25 or higher GPA.
Kollore graduated this year with a 3.5 GPA competing in her third straight NCAA West Regional. She was one of two female athletes from the OVC to earn USTFCCCA Scholar-Athlete honors. A total of six male student-athletes from the OVC earned that honor.
As a team both the EIU men's and women's programs earned the team academic award. The women posted a team GPA of 3.57 with the men posting a team GPA of 3.19.
