Track Wins Nine Events At Illinois Deca-Jam

Panthers with 32 total Top 3 podium finishes on Saturday

Eastern Illinois track and field turned in a solid effort on Saturday at the Illinois Deca-Jam with the Panthers posting nine first place finishes, 32 top three finishes and five total EIU Top 10 performances.
 
Shawn Lacy led a 1-2-3 finish for the Panther men in the javelin as he won with a throw of 201'05" which ranked as the eighth best throw in school history.  He was followed by Teegan Simmons (186'02") and Maliek Bush (161'0").
 
It was one of three complete event sweeps for the Panthers as EIU also took all three podium positions in the women's steeplechase and men's 400 hurdles.
 
Rylea Borgic led the women's steeple finishers winning the race with a time of 11:14.24.  She was followed by Chloe Proffitt (12:19.41) and Rachel Koon (12:27.56).
 
Tyler Miller led the men's 400 hurdle group wining with a time of 54.33.  He was followed by Weston Averkamp (55.41) and Antonio Mack (57.12).
 
The women's 4x100 meter relay team posted a first place finish while running the third best time in school history at 45.65.  The group included Abby Venhaus, Kenyetietta Quinn, Annabelle Coudron and Analena Peterson.
 
Peterson came back later to win the 200 meter sprint with a time of 24.28 which ranks eight best all-time at EIU.  Venhaus was second in the race with a time of 24.58.
 
Layla Bonilla had a EIU Top Ten record book effort placing second in the long jump with a leap of 39'11.50".  That jump ranks eighth all-time for the Panthers.  Venhaus was third in the event with a jump of 39'2.50".

Alex Stout had the final EIU Top Ten record book finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 182'9" which placed him fourth in a competitive field in the event.  That mark landed at ninth all-time at EIU.
 
Shawn Lacy, Devin Johnston and Ayden Cothern closed out EIU's first place track finishers for the day.  Lacy won the men's 100 meter dash with a time of 10.58.  Johnston won the women's 400 meter run with a time of 56.61.  Cothern won the men's 200 meter run at 21.46.
 
Malik Bush and Marco Reynolds tacked on the other first place EIU field event wins.  Bush won the men's long jump clearing 23'3.25".  Reynolds won the women's discus with a throw of 140.9".
 
EIU second place event finishers included Emily Sykes (W Shot Put – 42'9.50)", Nathan Kirby (M 110 hurdles – 14.64), Ike Logo (M Triple Jump – 44'9"), Women's 4x400 Relay 4:03.31.
 
The Panthers third place event finishers included Marco Reynolds (W Shot Put – 42''6.25"), Becca Robbins (W Discus – 132'), Jacob Maxwell (M Discus – 158'), Dagan Geier (M 110 hurdles – 15.43), Annabelle Coudron (W 100 – 12.25), Israel Jackson (M 100 – 10.67), Ashlyn Denney (W 800 – 2:11.75), Machi Nelson (Long Jump – 23'0.50" and High Jump – 6'4.75").
