Eastern Illinois freshman Ashlyn Denney has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Indiana State Pacesetter Invite last weekend.
 
The middle distance runner placed first in 800 meter run in a field containing 36 total runners.   Denney posted a time of 2:12.17 which currently ranks first in the OVC in the 800 meter event.
 
Denney has now competed in two events this outdoor season picking up a first place finish in the 1,500 meter run in the season opening EIU Big Blue Classic. 
 
This marks the second straight week EIU has won an OVC Track & Field Award after Machi Nelson captured OVC Male Freshman of the Week honors last week.
 
EIU returns to action this week competing at the Illinois Deca-Jam in Champaign.
