Eastern Illinois men's tennis competed over the weekend at the River Forest Collegiate Invitational with
Cameron Slabbert and
William Hays both posting opening round singles wins with several other players advancing in the consolation bracket of their draws.
Slabbert had a win in the No. 1 singles draw and would end his weekend advancing to the third-place match of the event.  His opening round win came against UIC.
Hays played in the open draw with an opening round win over Washington University.
In doubles play
Pau Riera and
Zach White picked up an opening round win playing at No. 2 doubles against Northern Illinois. They would advance to the third-place match for the weekend.
Four other Panthers players would drop their opening round match but win in the consolation bracket for a successful weekend run.  Riera played at No. 2 singles with White playing at No. 6 singles. The other two EIU players with that result were
Thomas Wallace at No. 4 singles and
Antonio Ayerbe Streubel at No. 5 singles. Â
The weekend event is played with all matches contested on clay courts.
