CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois men's and women's swim teams wrapped up their weekend home stand on Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers competed against Evansville and Wabash at Padovan Pool. The meet also doubled as a Senior Day celebration, with eight Panthers being recognized for their contributions to the program.
In the first event of the afternoon, the women's 200 medley relay team of
Olivia Viele,
Corinne Staneart,
Kaylan Ottosen, and
Autumn Grinter recorded a time of 1:50.48 to capture first place.
Grinter also won the women's 50 freestyle with a time of 24.57.
Phoebe Croston earned a silver in the 200 freestyle (2:03.95) and
Corinne Staneart finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:12.62).
Olivia Viele was runner up in the 100 backstroke (1:04.17), while
Erika Baber clocked a time of 5:27.31 in the 500 freestyle for a second place finish.
Grinter, Croston,
Izzy Glasgow, and Ottosen combined for a time of 1:41.11 in the women's 200 freestyle relay, which secured another silver for the Panthers.
The women's dual score was 114-81 in favor of Evansville.
The men's team opened the day with second place finish in the 200 medley relay, with the team of
Eli Westbrook,
Gabe Berry,
Sebastian Rosales, and
Dismas Dillon recording a time of 1:37.10.
Later on,
Conner Colston earned a silver in the 200 freestyle (1:44.98) and
Dismas Dillon finished runner up in the 50 freestyle (21.55).
Sebastian Rosales also earned a top three finish with a time of 54.04 in the 100 butterfly.
The meet wrapped up with the men's 200 freestyle relay, as Dillon, Berry, Colston, and
Jacob Wienants earned another silver with a time of 1:26.79.
The men fell to Evansville 41-157 and were edged out by Wabash 94-111.
The next event on the Panthers' schedule is the Butler Invite in Indianapolis. The meet is scheduled for Sunday, January 28th at 11 a.m.Â
