Swim Concludes Regular Season At Butler Invite

Corinne Staneart claims two top five finishes for EIU

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Eastern Illinois men's and women's swimming team closed out their regular season schedule at the Butler Invite on Sunday in Indianapolis. In addition to the host Bulldogs, the Panthers competed against Xavier, UIndy, Valpo, Lewis, and Ball State.

Against some stiff competition, both EIU teams finished in sixth place, with the women compiling a score of 546, and the men tallying 470 points.

The top highlight of the day was Corinne Staneart's third-place finish in the women's 200 breaststroke. Her time of 2:27.06 is the ninth fastest time in program history, and the bronze was the Panthers' highest finish of the event.

Staneart also finished top five in the 100 butterfly, as she clocked in at a time of 1:00.68.

Next up for the Panthers is the Summit League Championships in Minneapolis. The event is scheduled to run from February 21st through the 24th. The first day of competition is set to get underway at 12:30 p.m. at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
