Swim Concludes A3 Performance Invite At SIU

The event closed out the Panthers' fall schedule

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois men's and women's swim teams wrapped up the fall leg of their 2024-25 schedule at the SIU A3 Performance Invite in Carbondale on Saturday evening. The Panthers competed against Bellarmine, Evansville, Indiana State, Omaha, Southern Illinois, and Southern Indiana over three days at the event.

Day 1

On the opening day of competition, Autumn Grinter won the B-Final of the 50 free with a time of 24.02, which is the fastest mark on the team this season.

Eddie Myers also picked up points with a season-best time of 4:47.94 in the 500 free.

A little later on, Corinne Staneart finished the 200 IM in 2:07.32, which surpassed her previous team-best time of 2:14.81.

Day 2

On Day two, Olivia Viele clocked a top team time of 56.39 in the 100 fly to pick up 12 points for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Conner Colston posted a time of 1:42.07 in the A-Final of the 200 free, which was the best time of the season for an EIU swimmer.

Izzy Glasgow finished second in the B-Final of the 100 back with a time of 59.13, which is also an EIU season best.

Day 3

On the meet's final day, Autumn Grinter set another season-best mark with a time of 53.11 in the 100 free B-Final.

Conner Colston also set a new team-best in the 100 free with a time of 46.17 in the men's B-Final.

Genevieve Biberdorf won the B-Final of the women's 200 breast with a time of 2:24.03, which was another season-best for the Panthers.

In the men's 200 breast, Andrew Herman clocked a new team-best time of 2:09.31 to secure bronze in the B-Final.

Meanwhile, Olivia Viele earned a podium finish in the 200 fly A-Final with a time 2:05.46.

At the end of competition, the EIU women placed sixth with a total of 226 points, while the men placed seventh with a score of 194.

The Panthers will now enter a lengthy break before resuming competition in the new year. Their next meet is scheduled for January 10th at UIC.
