Eastern Illinois men's tennis lost on Sunday at Illinois State, 7-0, as the Panthers wrapped up their weekend with a split going 1-1. EIU beat Illinois Wesleyan 7-0 on Saturday.
The Panthers were close to picking up a point in doubles play as all three matches came down to the wire. EIU lost at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by a count of 7-5.
Pau Riera and
Thomas Wallace played at No. 2 doubles for EIU.
Cameron Slabbert and
Zach White played at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 1 doubles the match came down to a tie-break before EIU's No. 1 doubles team of
Tyler Carlin and
Jon William Karlstad lost 7-6 (7-2).
In singles play Illinois State won all six matches in two sets.
Pau Riera pushed his opening set at No. 1 singles against Nam Pham eventually losing the match 7-5, 6-1.
