ON-TAP: Eastern Illinois Track & Field heads to Terre Haute, Ind. to participate in the Indiana State Gibson Invite. Events are currently scheduled to begin on Thursday at 9 AM CT, Friday 8:30 AM CT, and Saturday at 10:00 PM CT.
LAST WEEKEND: The Panthers concluded their busiest weekend of the season so far, as EIU had athletes competing in the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invite, Illinois Gary Wieneke Memorial, and the SIUE Cougar Classic.
In California, three Panthers entered the school's top 10 all-time list in the 5000m race.
The first athlete to register a school top ten time was
Mackenzie Aldridge, as the distance runner now ranks second in the women's 5k with a time of 16:59.23. On the men's side of the event,
Richie Jacobo (14:15.18) is now eighth and
Joe Stoddard (14:17.34) comes in ninth place in the record book.
EIU also had
Adam Swanson running the 1500m open A, posting a time of 3:49.73 that puts him in the lead of the Ohio Valley Conference for the event.
In Champaign, two other Panthers made it to the school's top ten of all-time. In the pole vault,
Declan Ritzenthaler won the bronze with a mark of 5.15m (16' 10.75"), putting him in sixth place in the record book.
In the long jump,
Holly Vogt entered school's list in ninth place after posting a personal best mark of 5.85m (19' 2.50"). Another Panther having a strong performance was
Taryn Tarquin, as she improved her eighth ranked mark in the triple jump with a new personal best distance of 11.99m (39' 4").
Ramsey Hunt won a silver medal in the long jump with a season best mark of 7.82m (25' 8"). The mark gives Hunt the leading spot in the conference for the event.

In Edwardsville,
Matthew Gladieux moved from eighth to sixth place in EIU's record book after placing fourth with a personal best distance of 58.64m (192' 5") in the hammer throw.Â
OVC LEADERS: The Panthers continue to lead three different events in the Ohio Valley Conference after the conclusion of week three. The following athletes are the top marks in the conference:
Adam Swanson: 1500m - 3:49.73
Ramsey Hunt: Long Jump - 7.82m (25' 8")
Declan Ritzenthaler: Pole Vault - 5.15m (16' 10.75")
NEXT WEEK: The Panthers will participate in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, which will be held April 24-27, and in the Louisville Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Ky., which will be held April 26-27.
HEAD COACH: James Gildon was hired as Director of Track & Field at Eastern Illinois in August of 2023. Gildon enters his first year at Eastern after becoming the fifth director of track & field in the school's Division I history. He joins EIU following a successful stint as the associate head coach at Bowling Green.
