Eastern Illinois men's and women's tennis are in action this weekend for fall competition as the Panther men travel to the Illinois State Redbird Fall Invite while the EIU women play at the ITA OVC Fall competition.

This will be the second event of the fall for the EIU men after playing last week at the River Forest Collegiate event.Â

Teams scheduled to compete are Eastern Illinois, Marquette, Washington University, Eastern Kentucky, North Dakota, DePauw, IU Indy and host Illinois State.

Last week at the River Forest event EIU had several wins in both singles and doubles play.Â
Tyler Carlin and
Gui Cauvilla both won their opening round matches in their flights.Â
William Hays lost his opening round match but rallied to win the consolation portion of the draw.

In doubles play
Pieke Bouman and
Zach White won in the No. 1 draw in the opening round while
Alex Aldaz and
Ludolph Wiggett posted an opening round win in the No. 2 draw.

This will be the opening event of the fall for the women and include players from OVC teams Eastern Illinois, SIUE, Lindenwood, Southeast Missouri, Western Illinois and host Southern Indiana.

The EIU women have five players returning from last season with Alelya Wooten a second team All-OVC selection last year.Â

EIU adds three new faces to the roster for this year with freshmen
Mila Larrieu,
Ornella Lomenzo and
Maria Niculescu. Â

Luisa Renovales Salazar is the lone senior on the women's roster.
