Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country return to action this Saturday as the Panthers compete in the 2025 SWAGS Louisville XC Classic.
 
The men will compete in the Gold 8K race at 8 am (Central) on Saturday followed by the women in the Gold 5K race at 8:45 am (Central) at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville.
 
Each Gold Division race features 35 teams with the men's race including four regionally ranked teams from the most recent USTFCCA poll and the women's field with six ranked teams.
 
On the men's side the ranked field includes Arkansas State (13th South Central), Clemson (14th Southeast), Columbia (9th Northeast) and Middle Tennessee (7th South).   The women's ranked teams include Arkansas State (13th South Central), Butler (11th Great Lakes), Clemson (7th Southeast), Columbia (6th Northeast), Northern Colorado (15th Mountain) and West Virginia (2nd Mid Atlantic).
 
EIU had a solid showing in its last meet at the Indiana State John McNichols Invite.  Brenda Torres earned her second OVC Runner of the Week award as EIU placed all five scored runners in the Top 30 to collect a fourth place team finish.  Rylea Borgic and Avery Braker followed Torres across the line as the top three EIU runners.
 
On the men's side Michael Atkins led EIU for the second straight meet with his second straight top ten finish.  Tyler Dillon was EIU's second finisher in the event in 25th followed by Cale Smith in 32nd.   As a team EIU placed fifth in the field.
