Eastern Illinois Swimming Travels To Southern Illinois For The A3 Performance Invite

EIU will compete from Thursday through Saturday.

After a long break, the Panthers swim team is back in action. EIU men's and women's swimming will travel to Southern Illinois for the A3 Performance Invite. Last year, both men's and women's placed 6th in the contest. The women's scored 226 points, while the men's totaled 194.Ā 



Men's Swimming: The Panthers traveled to Olivet Nazarene, in which the men's team earned their first win of the season. EIU was led by multiple first-place finishes, including a Summit League player of the week nomination. The junior, Nolan Wallace, was impressive his last time out against Olivet Nazarene, earning a Summit League Player of the Week nomination. At the meet Wallace, won the Men 200 Yard Breaststroke with a finishing time of 2:11.10. Wallace won the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 57.67 seconds. Wallace was a member of the winning Men 400 Yard Medley Relay and the Men 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team. Alongside Wallace, Eddie Myers won the Men's 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:53.78, and Alexander Sadowski earned gold with the Men's 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:59.95. Another winning performance was Simonas Rimskis, who won the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 47.97 seconds.Ā Ā 





Women's Swimming: Although the women's team suffered a defeat against Olivet Nazarene, there were bright spots all around, including Sophia Buswell, who earned a Summit League Player of the Week nomination. Buswell was a part of the Women 400 Yard Medley Relay winning team. Buswell also won the Women's 200 Yard Butterfly with a winning time of 2:14.86 and the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 59.28 seconds. Jenna Patridge was also spectacular, winning the Women 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:09.75, the 50 Yard Freestyle with a winning time of 25.21 seconds, and the 100 Yard Backstroke with a final time of 1:00.00. Remi Bokos earned a second-place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:35.47 and the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:09.86. Other impressive performances were Maja Przybylska who placed second in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2.02.63 and Genevieve Biberdorf who placed second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:10.49.Ā Ā 




EIU will compete from Thursday through Friday. There will be no live coverage. Results will be posted when available.Ā Ā
