The EIU Track & Field indoor season is finally here, as the Panthers will travel to Terre Haute for the Indiana State John Gartland Invitational. The tentative schedule for the weekend meet consists of field events and running events starting at 5:00 PM on Friday, followed by the Women's Pentathlon and Men's Heptathlon on Saturday, starting at 11:00 AM.
Men's Track:
EIU men's track & field is highlighted by Daniel Lacy, who returns after winning the Men's 400 OVC Indoor Championship. The junior sprinter was also named to the 2nd Team All-OVC (4x400 relay - 3rd leg) for indoor track.
Junior sprinter Billy Bailey Jr. returns for the Panthers, having been named to the 2nd Team All-OVC (4x400 relay – 1st leg) last indoor season. Bailey Jr placed seventh at the OVC Indoor Championship in 400 meters.
Also returning is Sam Bradbury, who placed 5th in the shot put at the OVC Indoor Championship meet last season. During his junior year, his best shot-put mark was 54', which came at the Grand Valley Big Meet.
Women's Track:
The Panthers women's track & field is led by Abby Venhaus, the junior jumper who was named to the 2nd Team All-OVC at the OVC Indoor Championship for long jump. Her silver medal jump landing was at 19'0.74", which ranks seventh on the EIU career top ten list.
Sophomore Emily Sykes returns after finishing fourth in the shot put at the OVC Championship and sixth in the weight throw. Her season-best mark in the shot put was 42'9.50" at the Illinois State John Coughlan Invite.
Kenyetietta Quinn, the sophomore sprinter, returns after recording her personal best 200-meter indoor time of 24.86 at the OVC Championship, with the time ranked seventh on the EIU career top ten. Quinn also competed in the 60-meter dash and high jump at the indoor conference championship meet.
EIU will compete on Friday, starting at 5:00 PM, and Saturday at 11:00 AM. The final results will be posted on https://gosycamores.com/, www.timingmd.net, and https://www.tfrrs.org/
