Meet Results - DePaul Blue Demon Alumni Classic 

CHICAGO, Ill – The Eastern Illinois track and field team competed in the DePaul Blue Demon Alumni Classic on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Gately Indoor in Chicago, Ill as ten Panther athletes earned a podium finish in their respective event.

Ramsey Hunt and Abby Venhaus led EIU in the sand pit, both claiming a top-three finish in the long jump. Hunt continued to dominate his field, securing first place after a jump of 7.53m. Venhaus also walked away with a strong finish, earning bronze after logging a distance of 5.62m.

Three more EIU jumpers found success throughout the day, as Carolyn Cronin, Abraham Johnson, and Elijah Skutt all medaled in the high jump. Cronin secured a third-place finish in the women's division, reaching a height of 1.58m while Johnson and Skutt both battled for the first-place spot, each clearing a height of 2.01m. Skutt secured a first-place finish after succeeding in his first attempt as Johnson claimed third on his final attempt.

Johnson found success again later in the day, earning his second podium finish after logging a distance of 14.63m in the triple jump. Johnson was not the only Panther to place in the triple jump, as Enoch Appiah-Kubi and Taryn Tarquin both notched a third-place finish of their own. Appiah-Kubi had a record day, setting a personal best of 14.01m as Tarquin also soared, reaching a height of 11.28m.

In addition, Billy Bailey Jr. was the highlight of success for the Panther sprinters, securing a second-place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 49.01. Furthermore, Joe Stoddard and Richie Jacobo shined for the EIU distance runners, each logging their season-best in the 3000m run. Stoddard earned first with a time of 8:24.51 as Jacobo crossed the finish line in 8:31.39 to claim second.

The men's and women's 4x400m relay teams both posted season-best times in Saturday's races. The men's team consisting of Billy Bailey Jr., Josh Berry, Ayden Cothern, and Daniel Lacy ran a time of 3:17.41 and claimed third place while the women's team of Devin Johnson, Makenna McBride, Kaitlyn Vahling, and Hallee Thomas crossed the finish line in 4:01.51 to place fifth.
