Two Eastern Illinois women's tennis players earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors as the league announced its end of year awards on Wednesday (April 16) prior to this year's OVC Tournament in St. Louis.
Charleigh Fay and
Aleyla Wooten both collected All-OVC honors. Fay was named a second team All-OVC selection in singles while Fay and Wooten were named one of the league's All-OVC doubles teams.
EIU opens play in the OVC Tournament on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. facing No. 3 seed Bryant. EIU finished the OVC regular season with a 3-3 record including a 4-3 win over SIUE this past Saturday.
Fay was tied for the EIU team lead with eight singles wins this year playing at the No. 3 singles position. In OVC play she recorded a 5-1 record in that spot in the playing order.
In doubles play, Wooten and Fay teamed together for the latter portion of the year posting an overall 5-2 record with one match left unfinished. They were 3-2 in OVC play with unfinished match on Saturday against SIUE. Wooten played the entire season at No. 1 doubles pairing with both Fay and
Michelle Kostadinova during the season posting an overall 9-9 record in doubles action.
