Eastern Illinois junior Brenda Torres was named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Runner of the Week following her performance last Friday at the EIU Walt Crawford Open.
 
Torres placed first in the field leading a 1-2-3 finish for the Panthers across the line as they also picked up the team championship in a meet that featured seven teams including five from the OVC.
 
Torres covered the 6K course in a time of 21:33.9 winning the race by just over 18 seconds.
 
EIU returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Indiana State John McNichols Invite.
