Eastern Illinois men's golf opened the fall portion of its schedule with some memorable numbers including freshman Luke Watson tying the school 54-hole scoring record as the Panthers competed at the UT Martin Grover Page Classic.

Watson posted a 54-hole score of 207 which matched the best 54-hole total in school history set by Alvaro Hernandez in 2017 at Western Illinois.   Watson opened the tournament with a two-under par 69 on Monday morning.  After an even par round of 71 on Monday afternoon he ended the competition with a round of 67 (four under).  The round of 67 ties for the fifth best in school history with the last player to shoot 67 or better being Romeo Perez with a 66 in 2019.   Watson's efforts ended in a tie for 10th at the event.

As a team EIU finished in a tie for 9th as the tournament changed locations this year and was competed at The Links at Audubon in Memphis.  EIU posted a 54-hole team score of 853 (plus 1) to record the third best 54-hole team total in school history.  Two of three team rounds landed in the EIU top ten with the closing team round of two-under 282 ranking sixth best.  The opening round of even par 284 is eighth best in school history.
