Eastern Illinois vs. Missouri Invitational

EIU Track & Field will travel to the Missouri Invitational for a Friday showdown. The Panthers will compete against Missouri, Saint Louis, SEMO, SIUE, Murray State, Kansas City, and Lindenwood. The meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. The results will be available following the conclusion of the meet.
Men's Track:
The Panthers sent a split squad to the Fighting Illini Challenge and Notre Dame Invite last weekend, which brought multiple impressive performances. As a result of the performances, two members were awarded an OVC Weekly Award. Sam Bradbury was recognized as the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week. Bradbury competed in the Fighting Illini Challenge, where he placed third in the men's weight throw with a 19.09m (62-0.75) mark. His score is a new personal record and ranks 5th all-time in EIU history. In addition, Nathan Kirby won the OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week award. Kirby competed in the Notre Dame Invitational, where he placed first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.06 seconds. Maliek Bush added another win to his early season resume at the Fighting Illini Challenge. Bush won the 60m with a final time of 7.21 seconds. Bush also recorded a season-best in the men's long jump with a 7.06m mark.
Women's Track:
Layla Bonilla added to her early-season OVC award total by earning OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week. Bonilla competed in the Fighting Illini Challenge and placed third in the high jump. She earned a career-best score of 1.60m (5'3"). This is her second award of the season after winning the OVC Female Freshman Athlete a week prior. Abby Venhaus recorded a long jump season-best mark of 5.85m (19-02.50) in Champaign, Illinois. Venhaus' mark ranks 6th all-time in EIU history. Ashlyn Denney finished 7th in the women's 800m with a time of 2:14.05, which ranks 9th all-time in EIU history. Analena Peterson and Annabelle Coudron both set PRs in the 200m dash. Peterson placed 3rd with a time of 25.13, followed by Annabelle Coudron, who placed 5th with a time of 25.74. Angela Dobbins set a new personal record at the Fighting Illini Challenge. Dobbins set the PR in the women's long jump with a 5.64m mark.
