Eastern Illinois men's golf coach
Craig Toler has announced the addition of three players that will compete for the Panthers next academic year. Signing with the Panthers are transfers Brendan O'Brien and Tanner Thompson along with local Charleston product Hudson Meister.
Meister is from Charleston and won the Apollo Conference Championship as a senior advancing to the IHSA Class 2A Sectionals. As a freshman he was a state qualifier for the Trojans. During his time as a prep athlete, he has placed first in multiple tournaments and earned All-Conference and All-Area honors.
O'Brien is a transfer from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia - Canada. He transfers in after posting a 73.2 season stroke average this past season including a fifth place finish at the Saint Martin's Invitational. He has two other Top 20 finishes in college tournaments this season. He is from Victoria, B.C. and won the 2022 IMG Junior World Championship as a high school player.
Thompson is originally from Minooka, Ill., but finished his high school career at Gilbert High School in Arizona. He currently plays at Mesa Community College posting a 75.1 season stroke average this year. He has a pair of top three tournament finishes at both the South Mountain ACCAC Spring Tournament and at the Mesa CC Thunderbird Fall Classic.
