CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Both the Eastern Illinois men's and women's tennis squads get into the swing of things this coming weekend, with the men opening fall play at the Bradley Invitational, while women continue autumn action at the Ball State Invitational.
Last weekend the Panther women opened with a nice start at the Northern Illinois Invitational, going 15-10 in the event while two individuals won their respective singles flights.
The Panther men, meanwhile get going into the fall portion of the schedule and look to All-OVC player
Jeff Rutherford to lead the squad at No. 1 Singles once again this year. Other returners include junior
Vance Davis,
Jamie Firth,
Drew Grimaldi, and
Matyas Hilgert.
Newcomers are
Andy Bays,
Justin Haag and
Warren Race.
Up next for the EIU women will be the final fall event at the ITA Midwest Regional, hosted by Northwestern and played in Evanston, Ill. on Oct. 22-27.
The men get back to action next weekend, playing where the Panther women are playing this weekend, the Ball State Invitational, which will take place Sep. 25-27.
