COLUMBIA, Mo. -- For the third consecutive season, Eastern Illinois women's rugby has notched ten wins on the year as the squad ended the 2010 campaign with an 82-0 rout of Missouri on Saturday afternoon in Columbia, Mo.
The 10-1 season mark featured four consecutive shutouts to end the year, as EIU finished with eight total in 2010. Overall, the Panthers outpaced the opposition in scoring, 609 to 37, for an average final score of 55-to-3.
Sophomore Lauren Doyle led the EIU attack, tying her career high for the second time this season with six trys in the rout, plus dished out two assists.
Newcomer Cara Hahne ran in three trys of her own and notched an assist as well, fellow sophomore Kayla Heal notched a couple of five-pointers.
Three more Panthers tallied one try on the afternoon, as sophomore Ashley Aardsma and freshman Emily Chapman each secured five points each. Fellow freshman Alissa Patient secured her first career try in a Panther uniform as well.
Chapman ended up leading all players with four assists, followed by two by senior Coartney McKinney and junior Narissa Ramirez.
Senior Emily Harrison, junior Tina Crema and Aardsma also pitched an assist on Saturday.
Defensively, Patient led the Panther tackling game with seven solo stops and added an assisted tackle. Stefanie Mahan chipped in six tackles, while both Mandie Hurd and Ramirez recorded five solo stops.
Harrison had three tackles that led to a steal, leading all players.
McKinney finished her Panther career with a 6-for-14 day in two-point conversions, giving her a final all-time conversion mark of 152-of-253 (60%) career average. Midway through the season the Charleston took had already taken over the top spot for career two-point kicks.
Eastern will return 19 letterwinners from the 2010 squad, while seniors Emily Harrison, Coartney McKinney and Kristy Young each finish up outstanding Panther careers.
