LELAND, N.C. -- Senior Oscar Borda paced all Panthers as Eastern Illinois men's golf opened the spring portion of the slate at the Appalachian State Intercollegiate on Monday (March 16), held at the Par 72, 6,950-Yard Cape Fear National Golf Course in North Carolina.

A native of Brazil, Borda carded a 232 (+16) total off three rounds of 77, 75, and 80, which helped him tie for 30th place out of 70 total competitors.

Classmate James Jansen followed in a tie for 43rd (236/+20), while sophomore Marcus Dahlin tied for 50th (240/+24).  Freshman Daniel Hughes and junior Austin Sproles earned respective 67th and 68th place finishes to round out the Panther team scores.

As a team, the Panthers finished tied for 10th place alongside Nyack County with a 947 (+83) tally, finishing just ahead of UW-Green Bay in last place.

Gardner-Webb earned team honors with an 886 (+22) tally, while High Point's Jack Sides earned individual honors with a two-under-par 214 two-day, three-round total.

The Panthers return to spring action on March 29-30, as EIU will partake in the Butler Spring Invitational set to take place at the Prestwick Country Club just outside Indianapolis.
