GLENCOE, Ala. / AVON, Ind. -- Eastern Illinois men's and women's golf completed respective action at the Jacksonville State Intercollegiate and Butler Invitational events on Tuesday (March 24), with the guys taking eighth place and the ladies earning a seventh place mark.

Eastern freshman Annie Getzin continued to shine for the Panthers on the women's side, as she carded a two-round total of 158 (78-80) to finish 16-over-par and tie for eighth place out of 54 total competitors.  That marks the first Top 10 finish by an EIU golfer during the spring campaign.

Team-wise, the ladies finished just ahead of Wisconsin-Green Bay for seventh place out of eight squads competing, as EIU registered a 660 team tally.  The host Butler Bulldogs won the team title at the two-day event, which was held at the Par 71, 5,885-yard Prestwick Country Club just outside Indianapolis.  BU's own Jenna Peters earned an even par 142 to nab individual trophy honors.

Fellow newcomer Chloe Wong followed Getzin with a 27th place tie off a +26 168, cutting ten strokes off her first round play.  Senior Tiffany Wolf and another newcomer, Annie Bahr, both tied for 30th place with identical 170 scores, with Wolf playing four strokes better than on Monday.

Sophomore Alexandra Pickens rounded out the Panther contingent with a tie for 34th place and a 171 score, bestering her opening round play with an 11 stroke improvement.

On the men's side, sophomore Marcus Dahlin led all Panthers with a 31st place finish, carding a 229 total (73-78-78) to go 13-over-par at the Par 72, 6,886-yard Silver Lakes Golf Course in Glencoe, Ala.

Senior Oscar Borda and sophomore Daniel Hughes followed with respective 37th (234) and 38th (235) place as Borda had the best round of golf by any Panther on Tuesday.

Senior James Jansen and sophomore Ryan Hughes followed with a 39th place tie (238) and 46th place mark, respectively, for EIU.

Team-wise, Eastern finished in eighth place, out-pacing Northern Kentucky for last place as the Panthers shot a 933 total.  The host, and fellow Ohio Valley Conference rival, Gamecocks of JSU earned the team title with a 13-under-par team tally of 851.  JSU's Tomasz Anderson and Western Kentucky's Brandon Beckham tied for individual trophy honors with a six-under-par total of 210.

The EIU women return to the links this coming weekend, as the Panthers will partake in the Southern Illinois Saluki Invitational at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course down in Carbondale on March 29-30.

The Panther men, meanwhile, will have a week off to prepare for the Arkansas State Intercollegiate, which will take place at the Ridgepointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark. on April 4-5.
