MUNCIE, Ind. -Â Â Eastern Illinois men's tennis team took the court this afternoon at Ball State to open their spring 2016 season with a 6-1 loss to the Cardinals. This dual marked the first match of new head coach
Sam Kercheval's career at EIU.Â
Ball State opened the dual clinching the all-important dual point sweeping the Panthers. Partners
Robert Skolik and
Rui Silva pushed their opponent's to a tiebreaking set before falling to the Cardinal duo of Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz 7-6.Â
Silva was the only Panther to win their match playing at the No. 3 position. Silva took Ball State's Nemanja Guzina to a tie-breaker set winning in three setsÂ
5-7, 6-4, 11-9.
Ryan Henderson also fought hard to take his match into a third set ultimately falling to Stutz 2-6, 7-6, 10-4. Men's tennis will be back in action this Saturday [Jan. 23] as they travel to take on the Saint Louis Billikens.
