CHARLESTON, ILL. - Eastern Illinois men's and women's tennis teams continue their spring dual season with road trips this weekend. EIU women will be in action first this Friday [Jan. 22] as they travel to Indianapolis to take on the Butler Bulldogs. The men have their second game of the season the following day [Jan. 23] as they take on the Saint Louis Billikens in an evening match at 6:30 pm.

The women's tennis squad head into Friday's match searcing for their first individual and overall match victory after being blanked by No. 58 Illinois last time out. Both Grace Summers and Hannah Kimbrough pushed their Illinois counterparts to the limit forcing extra sets but neither could finish with the victory. The Panther women won the last meeting between the two schools 5-2 in Indianapolis this past season. Butler is currently 0-2 on the season having lost matches to Purdue and Abilene Christian. The Bulldogs have only won one set so far this season losing 6-1 to Purdue in their season opener.

The EIU men's team also looks to pick up their first win of the season at Saint Louis after falling to Ball State on the road 6-1. Rui Silva was the only Panther to pick up a victory for EIU downing his Ball State opponent in three sets [5-7, 6-4, 11-9]. Saint Louis welcomes EIU following their season opening match against Olivet Nazarene Friday [Jan. 22]. The Panthers have been victorious over SLU the last two times these schools have faced each other on the court. The Panthers opened their 2014 season against Saint Louis the last time the two teams squared off with EIU earning a 4-3 win thanks to winning the all-important doubles point. Both Ryan Henderson and Robert Skolik, then sophomores, picked up singles wins.

Following this weekend's duals both teams will be back in action next Saturday [Jan. 30] with the men having two duals on the road against Wright State at 10 am and then at Northern Illinois at 6 pm while the women head to Western Illinois at 12 pm.
