JONESBORO, Ark. – The Eastern Illinois women's tennis team secured a 4-0 road victory Saturday morning at RidgePointe Country Club over Arkansas State.
The girls again went undefeated in singles competition with Srishti Slaria defeating Sofia Krsmanovic 6-0, 6-4 from the No. 5 spot. In the No. 2 position, Ali Foster overtook Victoria Roberts 6-2, 6-0, while Grace Summers overpowered her Red Wolf counterpart, sweeping Chiara Stefanov 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot.
The Panthers finished the day sweeping doubles' play 3-0. The duo of Summers and Hannah Kimbrough paired-up to edge out the Red Wolves partners of Julie Gauguery and Victoria Roberts 6-4 while Srishti Slaria and Kamile Stadalninkaite nearly swept Chiara Stefanov and Sabina Jeresic 6-1.
The Panthers were scheduled to play one more non-conference match against Lipscomb Sunday [Mar. 13] but were forced to cancel the match.
EIU opens up OVC play with their first home match of the season this Friday [Mar. 18] at 1 pm against Southeast Missouri.
