CHARLESTON, Ill. - The Eastern Illinois men's tennis team is set to take on two conference opponents in the Racers of Murray State on Friday at 1:00 pm in Murray, Ky. followed by the Governors of Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn. on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

The Panthers lost a very close 4-3 dual to SIU Edwardsville which dropped them to 0-1 in the OVC the last time out. Ryan Henderson and Robert Skolik both picked up singles wins in the match against the Cougars along with Trent Reiman who picked up his first singles win of the season coming from the No. 5 spot. Henderson is the only Panther with a winning record in singles play so far this season with a 7-3 record.

Both the Racers and the Governors conference records are currently 0-2 with each team recording losses to Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. On the season the Panthers are 2-9 while the Racers are 2-12 and the Governors are winless standing at 0-7 so far this year.

Both EIU and MSU are on losing streaks of at least 5 duals and are looking for a win to boost their season. 

The Panthers all-time record against Murray State is 7-15 with EIU beating the Racers consecutively the last three years. The Panthers all-time record against Austin Peay is 10-14 with the last win coming in 2009.

The only common opponent for EIU and APSU is SIU Carbondale, in which both the Panthers and the Governors recorded a 7-0 loss to the Saluki's earlier this season.

The Governors take on SIU Edwardsville on Friday before taking on EIU as they look to get their first win of the season.

Following this weekend's road trip, EIU will have two more duals at home next Friday [Apr. 1] at 2:00 pm against Belmont and Saturday [Apr. 2] at 10:00 am against Tennessee State.
