CHARLESTON Ill. - Following her OVC athlete of the week award, Grace Summers will lead the 8-4 Panthers from the No. 3 spot in dual weekend clashes starting with the 6-5 Murray State Racers at 10 am in Murray Kentucky on Friday. Summers and the rest of the EIU women's tennis team will then take on the 2-6 Governors of Austin Peay in Clarksville Tennessee also at 10 am on the following Saturday.

Eastern will enter the contest fresh off a dominant home stand sweeping Southeast Missouri 7-0 and easily defeating UT Martin 4-1.

Murray State is currently 6-6 on the season and 1-1 in OVC play having lost their last two matches. The last time these teams squared off Murray State fell to Eastern 4-3 in a close encounter that came down to the wire. After dropping the doubles point Ali Foster recorded a straight set decision at the No. 2 spot to tie the match 1-1.

The Racers fought back earning two victories for a 3-1 advantage, but the Panthers turned things around ripping off three straight victories, and putting Summers in position to earn the Panthers thrilling 4-3 victory in a three-set match clincher. Summers is currently 10-1 this season in singles play to lead the team as each Panther currently has a winning record in singles matches.

The Panthers OVC road trip concludes Saturday against Austin Peay. The 2-6 Governors are 1-1 in OVC play as well and will have their hands full with their red-hot conference foe. APSU has a match with SIU Edwardsville Friday before taking on the Panthers.

The last time these clubs met, Foster and Kamile Stadalninkaite did their part from the No. 2 and No. 6 spots in the lineup, leading the Panthers to victories in each of the singles matchups in straight sets as EIU went on to take the match by a score of 5-2.
