INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Eastern Illinois men's tennis team ended the weeks only match falling at IUPUI 6-1 Saturday evening.

With the loss, the Panthers drop to 1-6 on the year while IUPUI improves to 3-5. This ends a 5 game winning streak EIU held over the Jaguars dating back to 2004 making their series record now 14-4 in favor of the Panthers.

After dropping the doubles point, singles play started on a high note in the No. 1 position as Freddie O'Brien defeated Jose Calero 6-4, 6-4 to secure EIU's only singles win of the match. O'Brien's win improves him to 4-3 in singles play this season, winning his fourth match in a row. 

In the No. 2 and No. 5 positions, Grant Reiman and Marko Stefan Janjusic forced their opponents to a third set, but both were eventually defeated.

EIU now prepares for next weekend as they'll travel back to Indiana for a match against Valparaiso Friday (Feb. 17) at 4 p.m.
