SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Eastern Illinois men's and women's indoor track & field teams displayed a strong showing at the prestigious Notre Dame Meyo Invite. The Panthers earned 14 top 20 finishes in final events and set a new school record in the women's distance medley relay during the two-day invitational.
The highlight for the Panthers occurred during the first day of competition at the Meyo Invite on Friday.

Dhiaa Dean,
Kristen Paris, and
Julie James all teamed up for the women's distance medley relay. The quartet broke the previous school record of 11:50.24 that was set during 2015 and finished the race with a record time of 11:41.99 and ended the event in seventh overall.
Paris followed that with an individual top 20 finish of her own in the 800-meter run. Paris finished the event in 19th overall and posted a time of 2:11.65 which currently ranks as the top time in the Ohio Valley Conference this season.
Bryn Buckwalter posted a pair of top 20 finishes in the shot put and the weight throw. The senior earned her top finish in the shot put and she posted the eighth-best toss in the event at 49'03.75". She placed 19th overall in the weight throw with her distance of 52'02.75" in the event.
Brion Portis rounded out the individual top 20 finishes for the EIU women as she earned hers in the triple jump. Portis ended the event in 12th overall with her leap of 38'09.75".
Jamal Robinson recorded a pair of top 20 individual finishes to pace the EIU men. Robinson earned his top overall finish in the 60-meter dash where he finished the event in fifth overall at 6.88. He followed that up with a 17th place finish in the 200-meter dash with a new season-best time of 21.86 and currently ranks second overall this season in the OVC in the event.
Johnathan Boey also placed amongst the top 20 in the 60-meter dash, as he finished not far behind Robinson in seventh overall at 6.99.
The EIU men's distance medley relay team finished in fifth overall in the event. The quartet –
Riley McInerney,
Lars Ott,
Karson Hahn, and
Michael Mest – crossed the finish line at 10:03.76.
Riley Kittridge led the way for the EIU men with his top 20 finish in the field events. Kittridge earned his first top 20 finish in the shot put where he placed eighth overall with a mark of 56'02.00". The mark is currently the top shot put distance this season in the OVC.
Adam Kessler followed that with a 14th place finish in the weight throw (54'03.75"). Teammate
Nick Phillips also finished in the top 20 in the weight throw as he finished the event in 16th (53'03.00").
Chrisford Stevens and
Davion McManis rounded out the list of top 20 finishes for the EIU men at the Meyo Invite. Stevens earned his in the triple jump as she cleared a distance of 46'11.00" to finish the event in 14th. McManis recorded the 18th best long jump at the Meyo Invite at 22'07.75".
The EIU men's and women's indoor track & field teams will return to action next weekend at the Grand Valley State Big Meet. The Panthers will compete on Friday (Feb. 10) in Allendale, Mich.
