CHARLESTON, Ill. - The Eastern Illinois men's tennis team closed out their 2017 conference season falling to Austin Peay 5-2 Saturday afternoon. Following the loss, EIU drops to 3-19 on the year and finishes OVC play 0-6 while APSU improves to 5-11 and 2-3 in the conference.

Jared Woodson and Trent Reiman both picked up their first OVC singles win of the season against the Governors. Woodson downed Aleh Drobysh in a hard-earned three set match 7-6 (3), 1-6, 1-0 (3) at the No. 4 spot to improve to 5-17 this season. Trent Reiman won his matchup in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 position.

Freshman Ferdinand Ammer was taken to a third set as well by his APSU opponent James Mitchell, but eventually fell at the No. 6 spot 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (5).

Ammer along with partner Trent Reiman had better luck in doubles play, as the pair were the onyl doubles team to pick up a win from EIU downing their opponents 6-3 from the No. 2 position. The win puts the pair at 3-10 on the season and 2-4 in OVC play.

The panthers close out their 2017 season next weekend at home hosting Hanover and UIS Saturday (Apr. 15) starting at 9 a.m.
