Eastern Illinois women's tennis returns to action this weekend as the Panthers play on Saturday afternoon at Notre Dame before a Sunday doubleheader at Ball State.

EIU opened the season last weekend falling 4-3 to Illinois State with the match decided on a tie-breaker point in singles play. The Panthers would fall on Sunday at Big Ten member Illinois.

In singles action at Illinois State the Panthers top three seeded players
Rachel Papavasilopoulos,
Stella Cliffe and
Grace Summers all picked up wins. Cliffe and Summers were named to the preseason All-OVC top ten women's players list on Thursday.

In doubles play EIU had a win from Papavasilopoulos and
Karla Contreras playing at No. 2 doubles against Illinois State.  The Panthers No. 1 doubles tandem of Cliffe and Summers won on Sunday at Illinois knocking off the Illini double's team that was ranked No. 45.

The Saturday match at Notre Dame will take place at 1 pm (Central) at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. Notre Dame is 1-0 on the season.

On Sunday the Panthers will play Ball State in a doubleheader with matches set for 12:30 pm (central) and 3 pm.  Ball State is currently 1-1 on the year.Â
