SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis opened its weekend swing through the Hoosier State with a Saturday afternoon loss at Notre Dame. EIU lost 7-0 to Notre Dame.
EIU fell to 0-3 on the season and will play a doubleheader at Ball State on Sunday afternoon. Notre Dame improved to 2-0 on the year.
EIU won at No. 1 doubles with the team of
Grace Summers and
Stella Cliffe knocking off Brooke Broda and Allison Miller by a score of 6-4. It marks the second straight match that Summers and Cliffe have won at No. 1 doubles. Last Sunday at Illinois, Summers and Cliffe won their match over the Fighting Illini's No. 1 doubles team that was ranked No. 45 in the nation. Notre Dame would win at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the point.
The Fighting Irish won all six points in singles action. Cliffe lost at No. 2 singles to Miller losing by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Srishti Slaria lost at No. 6 singles to Rachel Chong by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
EIU and Notre Dame played two additional singles matches that did not count towards the final score. At No. 8 singles
Claire Martin won over Evie Shannon by a score of 6-3.
