Women's Tennis Edged 4-3 At Indianapolis

Match decided in final set at No. 2 singles

INDIANAPOLIS - Eastern Illinois women's tennis wrapped up its third consecutive day of matches with a 4-3 loss at the University of Indianapolis.  UIndy entered the weekend ranked No. 10 in the NCAA Division II ranks.
 
The Panthers fell behind 1-0 to start as they lost all three doubles matches.  Srishti Slaria and Claire Martin battled in their match at No. 2 doubles before falling 7-5.
 
The match would come down to the final contest as EIU picked up wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.  Slaria won 6-3, 6-3 over Mara Hofstetter at No. 4 singles.  Karla Contreras beat Chloe Weihs at No. 5 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.  Martin won at No. 6 singles by a score of 6-3, 6-3 over Pam Brito Torres.
 
UIndy picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles leaving the deciding match at No. 2 singles.  Grace Summers won the first set 7-5 over Florence Renard.  Renard would rally to win the final two sets and give UIndy the win.
 
EIU fell to 3-7 on the year after going 1-2 this past weekend.  EIU returns to action next weekend at Chicago State and Northern Illinois.  Indianapolis improved to 3-1.
