ROCKFORD, Ill. – Northern Illinois slipped by Eastern Illinois 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Boylan Tennis Center.
EIU dropped to 4-8 on the year. NIU improved to 3-4.
NIU opened the match taking the doubles point by winning all three matches to lead 1-0.
Grace Summers squared the match at 1-1 beating Maria Potsi at No. 2 singles by a 6-3, 6-2 count.
Following an NIU win at No. 6 singles,
Emily Pugachevsky won in straight sets over Evelyn Youel at No. 4 singles to tie the match at 2-2. Pugachevsky won 6-4, 6-2.
The final three matches that determined the outcome all went to three sets.Â
Srishti Slaria won for EIU at No. 3 singles beating Abigail Dekkinga 5-7, 6-0, 6-0.
NIU would pick up wins at No. 1 singles and No. 5 singles. Thisuri Molligoda knocked off
Stella Cliffe at No.1 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Lara Slisko would defeat
Abby Carpenter at No. 5 singles 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
