O'FALLON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis finished the weekend 2-0 as the Panthers beat Saint Louis, 5-2, on Sunday evening.  The win comes following a Panthers 7-0 win over Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon.

EIU opened winning the doubles point with Grace Summers and Stella Cliffe taking the No. 1 doubles match by a score of 6-2.  Claire Martin and Srishti Slaria teamed up at No. 2 doubles for the Panthers picking up a 6-4 win to secure the point. 

In singles play Slaria put the Panthers up 2-0 on the day beating Gabi Papachrisanthou at No. 6 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2.  SLU was able to cut the EIU lead in half with a win by Alba Salinas at No. 5 singles over Karla Contreras. 

Cliffe pushed EIU's margin back to 3-1 with a win at No. 2 singles over Cassie McKenzie.  Cliffe won 7-6 (1), 6-3.

The Panthers sealed the win and added a final point with wins at No. 1 singles by Rachel Papavasilopoulos and at No. 4 singles by Emily Pugachevsky.  Papavasilopoulos beat Ally McKenzie in three sets 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.  Pugachevsky also needed three sets to secure her win over Alana Bourgeois winning 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

EIU improved to 2-5 on the season and will enter a busy weekend traveling to Indiana next Friday followed by a Saturday match at Bradley and a Sunday match at the University of Indianapolis.  Saint Louis dropped to 0-4.
