2019 SIUE Fall Invite Results
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Eastern Illinois women's tennis opened the 2019 fall season over the weekend at the SIUE Fall Invite with only three returning players on the roster. EIU played a host of new faces as they had both singles and doubles competition against SIUE, Western Illinois and Saint Louis.
In their opening singles match on Friday, EIU won all four matches against Western Illinois.
Esa Kavtaradez won in three sets 7-5, 1-6, 10-7 at the number one position.
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova won in two sets at the number two spot including a tie-breaker in the opening set 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Brittany Steven won at the number three position 6-0, 6-0 while
Lauren Ellis posted a 6-0, 6-0 result at number four singles.
The young Panthers team would lose all six singles matches to Saint Louis and then won only one singles match against SIUE.
Brittany Steven playing at number three singles picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win.
In double play EIU would get wins against both SLU and SIUE at the number two doubles position with Steven playing with
Karla Contreras. The tandem would win 6-2 against SLU and 6-4 against SIUE.
The Panthers would win both of their doubles matches against WIU by a 6-1 count.
EIU returns to action this upcoming weekend (Sept. 13-14) at the Olivet Nazarene Invite.
