Kentucky Invite Results
NORMAL, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's track & field posted eight top three individual finishes and two relay wins on Saturday afternoon at the Illinois State Redbird Invite.
The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams both picked up relay wins. The 4x100 relay team won with a time of 40.76 while the 4x400 relay team posted a winning time of 3:14.46. The 4x100 relay squad included
Brailyn Johnson,
Payton Powell,
Cameron Yarbrough and
Ricky Johnson. The 4x400 relay team included
Damian Clay,
Tadiwa Mhonde,
Adam Swanson and
Riley Baker.
Brailyn Johnson and
Payton Powell would post a second and third place finish in the 100 meter dash. Johnson's time of 10.51 was just outside of the EIU career top ten. Powell finished with a time of 10.65.
Jekeel Suber was second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.11 with the time tied for the seventh best time in school history.
Joe Smith won the triple jump with a mark of 49'5.75" which ranks as the ninth best triple jump in school history.
Franky Romano was second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:56.68 while
Will Bullock added a third place finish in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:24.50.
Ricky Johnson was third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.32.
Steven Rowe was second in the high jump clearing a high of 6'5".
In addition EIU had a group of throws athletes post three top six finishes at the Kentucky Invitational.
Bradley Olysav was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 51'2.25".
Matthew Gladieux was sixth in the discus with a throw of 157'2".
Makenna Wilson was sixth in the women's discus with a throw of 154'8" with the throw the third best mark in school history.
