Eastern Illinois women's tennis opened the fall season competing at the SIUE Cougar Fall Invite on Friday and Saturday.  The Panthers would lose matches to SIUE and Bradley before picking up a win over Western Illinois.
 
In the match with Bradley, 
Rachel Papavasilopoulos picked up a point in singles play with a win at No. 1 singles.  Papavasilopoulos won 3-6, 6-4, 10-3.
 
Against SIUE the Panthers would secure a win at No. 1 doubles with the play of Papavasilopoulos and 
Christine Gouws winning 7-5.   EIU nearly clinched the doubles point with a tough loss at No. 2 doubles as 
Addison Brown and 
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova lost 7-6 (4).
 
In singles play, EIU adjusted its line-up with players moving up one position.  
Lauren Ellis pushed her match at No. 3 singles to three sets before falling to Melissa Vizcardo, 4-6, 6-3, 10-3.
 
EIU won pick up the team win over Western Illinois. 
 
The Panthers only other scheduled fall event is the ITA Midwest Regional on Sept. 24-26.
