Panthers Square Off Against The Cougars
Eastern Illinois women's basketball heads on the road again to take on another in-state opponent in the Chicago State Cougars on Tuesday, November 22.  A win would give the Panthers their first 5-0 start since 1982-83.  Tipoff is set for 7 PM CT.

Last Game
EIU overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to earn a home win over the Loyola Chicago Ramblers 83-73 at Lantz Arena on November 20.  Macy McGlone scored a career-high 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while Lariah Washington scored 17 points, dished out a career-high nine assists, and seven rebounds.  Morgan Litwiller contributed with 11 points and six rebounds while Hannah Purcell scored nine points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting performance.  Julia Bengtson scored eight points for the Panthers.

Player to Watch
After missing the first three games of the season, Taris Thornton made her presence known in her first game back against Loyola Chicago.  She finished with 8 points, all of which came in the 4th quarter, on 4-of-5 shooting from the field to help EIU put the game on ice.  She has the potential to be a game-changer on both ends of the floor, as she had four double-digit scoring performances off the bench as a freshman a season ago and led EIU in blocked shots in 2021-22 with 13.

Scouting Chicago State
Chicago State is led by first-year head coach Andrea Williams.  The Cougars are 0-4 through their first four games with every loss coming by at least 25 points.  Senior guard Janiah Newell leads the Cougars through their first four with 13.5 points per game, while freshman center Josie Hill is Chicago State's top rebounder through four games with 6.8 per game.  As of Monday, the Cougars are averaging just 7.5 assists per game to 21.5 turnovers per game and are shooting the ball at a 36.8% clip on average.

Series History
Tuesday will mark the 23rd all-time meeting between the Panthers and the Cougars.  EIU leads the all-time series 17-5, but Chicago State has won the last four meetings, including a 73-64 result in the most recent meeting on March 16, 2011 at Lantz Arena in the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament.

Up Next
The Panthers will host the Wright State Raiders on Monday, November 28.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6 PM CT.
