Women's Tennis Set For Two On Saturday

Panthers will play Bradley and Omaha

Saturday, Feb. 10 vs. Bradley – 3 pm (Parkside Fitness, Pekin, Ill.)

 
Eastern Illinois women's tennis returns to action this weekend as the Panthers will play a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon at the Parkside Fitness Center in Pekin, Ill.   EIU will face Omaha in the first match followed by a late afternoon contest against Bradley.
 
EIU enters this weekend at 0-6 after a tough 4-3 loss to Milwaukee last Sunday afternoon at the Danville Tennis Center.  Omaha enters the weekend at 5-1.  Bradley comes into the weekend at 1-5.    This will be the third meeting in the series between EIU and Omaha with Omaha holding a 2-0 lead.  This will be the 36th meeting between EIU and Bradley.  The Braves lead 18-17 and have won two straight over EIU.
 
Senior Rachel Papavasilopoulos has picked up two of the Panthers three wins in singles play this season.  Papavasilopoulos currently ranks second in career wins at EIU at No. 1 singles.  She has moved into a tie for eighth on the EIU career overall singles wins chart with 45.  Papavasilopoulos was a first team All-OVC selection last season and the OVC Player of the Year in 2019.
 
EIU's other singles victory this season came last Sunday with Christine Gouws picking up a win at No. 3 singles.   Gouws has also partnered with Addison Brown to post a 2-1 record in doubles action playing at No. 2 doubles.
 
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova has two wins in doubles action this spring.  One win came with Papavasilopoulos playing at No. 1 doubles with the other win coming at No. 3 doubles partnered with Kaitlyn Snyder.
