Swim Finishes Their Weekend At Championships

Multiple Panthers set new personal records

WEST FARGO, N.d. - Eastern Illinois swimming finished their season at the Summit League Championships on Saturday in West Fargo, N.D. Multiple Panthers earned new PRs during the meet. Both men and women's finished in sixth place over the weekend.

On day four, Ashley Glesing finished in seventh place in the B finals of the women's 100 yard IM with a time of 1:02.36. Colin Feliciano finished in sixth in the men's A final of the same event with a time of 52.52 to earn himself a new PR.

Kennedy Darensbourg finished her season with a 10th place finish in the women's 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 17:51.36. She was the fastest Panther in that event. Spencer Wilson finished in 11th place on the men's side with a time of 16:33.77 to set his new best in the 1650 yard freestyle. 

Alex Adams was able to collect a fifth place finish in the B final of the men's 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.89. Olivia Viele posted the fastest women;s time of any Panther in the prelims of the 200 back with a time of 2:12.65. 

Camryn Lewis earned herself another third place finish in the B final of the women's 100 free with a time of 52.54. She also set her new personal best with that time. Dismas Dillon was also able to collect a third place finish in the men's 100 free with a B finals time of 46.58. 

In the women's 200 yard breaststroke A finals, Corinne Staneart earned fifth place with a time of 2:21.09 to set her new career best. Cydney Adams earned a third place finish in the women's 200 fly B finals with a time of 2:11.10. 

In the final two events of the season, the women's 400 free relay team of Autumn Grinter, Sabrina Chu, Maddie Pittman, and Lewis finished in sixth place in the A finals with a time of 3:33.69 to beat their previous record by four seconds. The men's finals team of Connor Colston, Payton Buse, Dillon, and Wilson placed fifth with a time of 3:06.33.

Below are the recaps from the previous three days of the Summit League Championships.

DAY ONE
The Panthers only competed in four events during day one of The Summit League Championships. During the afternoon session, both Panther squads competed in the 200 yard medley relay. In the A final, the squad of Katy Black, Ashley Glesing, Kalyan Ottosen, and Camyrn Lewis finished in sixth place with a new personal best time of 1:46.53. The Panther team of Olivia Viele, Corinne Staneart, Izzy Glasgow, and Autumn Grinter finished in fourth in the B final with a time of 1:47.07.

On the men's side, the team of Forrest, Baumgartner, Collin Feliciano, Jacob Nichols, and Dismas Dillon finished with a new personal best time of 1:32.80 in the A finals while finishing in sixth place. The B finals saw Jackson Penny, Marshall Holt, Alex Adams, and Payton Buse finish in sixth place with a finals time of 1:37.60.

The second event the Panthers competed in was the 800 yard freestyle relay. In both A and B finals, each women's Panther relay team set a new personal best in the event. Phoebe Croston started the Panthers in the A final followed by Sabrina Chu, Emma Ballantyne, and Maddie Pittman who finished with a time of 7:48.92 to finish in sixth place. The B team was led by Kennedy Darensbourg, Elizabeth Bonnell, Grace Hamrick, and Viele who finished with a time of 8:06.86 which shaved 16 seconds off their previous best.

The A final on the men's side was swam by Jacob Weinants, Feliciano, Spencer Wilson, and Connor Colston who finished in fifth place with a time of 6:51.54. Their previous best was 7:03.56 in this event. Michael Kindel, Charlie Stewart, Jarod Farrow, and Joel Talley swam for the men's team in the B final and finished in sixth with a time of 7:09.01.

DAY TWO
Starting the day off, Kennedy Darensbourg swam in the women's 500 yard freestyle, and finished with a time of 5:18.77 to lead all Panthers in that event. She set her new season best in that event with her time. In the men's B final, Spencer Wilson placed second with a time of 4:37.57 which also set a new personal best for him. In the preliminaries, Michael Kindel broke his personal record with a time of 4:44.49.

In the men's 200 yard IM prelims, Joel Talley was able to set his personal record with a time of 1:57.55. Cydney Adams also set her personal best in the women's 200 yard IM with a prelims time of 2:14.48.

Camryn Lewis was able to qualify for the 50 yard freestyle final after her prelims time of 23.31 which ranked third heading in to the A final. In the finals, she received fourth place overall with a time of 23.14. Autumn Grinter also got first place in the C finals in the 50 free with a finals time of 24.27. On the men's side, Dismas Dillon qualified for the A final with a time of 20.60 in the prelims. He finished in eighth place overall. Payton Buse finished third in the men's 50 yard freestyle in the C final with a finals time of 21.24.

In the A final for the women's 400 yard medley relay, the team of Olivia Viele, Ashley Glesing, Kaylan Ottosen, and Lewis finished in sixth with a finals time of 3:56.22 which was a new personal record. The men's team in the A final also finished in sixth place with a finals time 3:25.33 which sets new PR for the team. Forrest Baumgartner, Collin Feliciano, Alex Adams, and Connor Colston made up the A team.

DAY THREE
During the women's 400 yard IM A finals, Emma Ballantyne finished in eighth place with a finals time of 4:41.18 Her prelims time was 4:38.88. Over on the men's side in the B finals for the 400 yard IM, Joel Talley placed fifth with a time of 4:13.77.

Kaylan Ottosen led all Panthers in the prelims of the women's 100 yard butterfly with a time of 59.12. Alex Adams was able to finish second in the men's B final of the 100 yard fly with a time of 50.52 while Dismas Dillon finished in eighth in the B final with a time of 52.51.

In the women's 200 yard freestyle, Sabrina Chu led all Panthers in the preliminaries with a time of 1:56.37. Maddie Pittman was right behind her with a time of 1:56.49. Two Panther swimmers placed in the top three of the men's 200 yard freestyle B final. Spencer Wilson (1:42.97) and Connor Colston (1:43.35) finished second and third in that event. Jacob Wienants finished in sixth in the same event with a time of 1:43.82.

The women's 100 yard breaststroke B finals saw Corinne Staneart earn a second place finish with a time 1:05.98 to lead all Panthers in that event. Collin Feliciano was the men's leader in the men's 100 breaststroke with a B finals time of 58.65.

Camryn Lewis returned to action after placing fourth in an A final on day two. She placed third in the women's 100 yard backstroke B final with a time of 57.77.4 The men's team of Payton Buse, Dillon, Forrest Baumgartner, and Colston finished in fifth during the men's 200 yard freestyle relay. Their time of 1:22.34 sets their new personal best on the year.
