Final Results
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Eastern Illinois finishes Day 2 of the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track Championships hosted at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. Multiple Panthers earn first places finishes to end the indoor season. The men's team finished in second place overall. The women's team finished in sixth.
Aiden Meyer started Thursday's meet by finishing the men's heptathlon. Meyer earned fifth place in the 60 meter hurdles with a final time of 9.13. The participants then moved on to the pole vault portion of the event in which Meyer earned a fourth place finish with a distance of 3.20m. Meyer ended the heptathlon with a second place finish in the 1000 meter run in which he placed second with a time of 2:53.14. He finished fourth overall with a total of 4556 points.
In the men's high jump finals,
Steven Rowe was able to collect a third place finish with a mark of 2.05m.
Porter Conroy (5th) and
Elijah Skutt (7th) also finished with a mark of 1.95m to earn the men's team points. The men's triple jump also saw
Sean Hopkins earn a sixth place finish with a mark of 13.82m.
Marie Koch placed in seventh in the women's shot put with a throw of 12.48m.
Bradley Olysav and
Matthew Gladieux both earned points for the men's team after finishing third and fifth respectively. Olysav had a throw of 15.97m while Gladieux threw a 15.20m.
Jaime Marcos took home first place in the men's mile with a time of 4:08.86.
Nick Oakley also earned a fifth place finish with a time of 4:14.78. Kat Bushue had another top-three finish for the women's team as she placed second in the mile with a time of 5:01.28.
After qualifying for the men's 60m hurdles,
Stenoree Allen finished in third place in the finals with a time of 8.32. The Panthers had the top two finishers in the women's 60m hurdles with
Akiya Kollore earning first with a time of 8.55, and
Shanisa Stinson coming in second with a time of 8.59.
Hallee Thomas also received a sixth place finish in that event with a time of 9.00.
Three Panthers earned points for EIU in the men's 400 meter finals including
Riley Baker who finished in first with a time of 48.31.
Josiah Neal was able to come in fourth with a time of 49.34, while
Makhtar Mbaye earned an eighth place with a finals time of 50.16.
Sean Hopkins earns the gold for the Panthers in the men's 60 meter dash finals with a time of 6.83. Right behind him was
Brailyn Johnson with a time of 6.89.
Jahleel Perrin finished in fifth with a time of 7.01. Joshua Whitaker was able to capture a second place finish for the Panthers in the men's 800 meter finals with a time of 1:53.48. In the women's 800 meter,
Katie Springer earned a seventh place finish (2:17.27).
In the men's 200 meter final,
Ricky Johnson was able to grab first place with a time of 21.56. J. Perrin (22.26), B. Johnson (22.42), and M. Mbaye (23.13) placed fifth through seventh.
Dustin Hatfield captured yet another first place finish in the men's 5000m after posting a time of 8:18.71.
Jaime Marcos came in third in the same event with a time of 8:23.56.
Trevor Murphy (8:25.56) and
Richie Jacobo (8:25.93) finished in fourth and fifth.
Lindsey Carlson and
Kate Bushue were able to place seventh and eighth in the women's 3000m with times of 10:08.15 and 10:12:15.
The Indoor Championships came to a close after the two 4x400m events in Birmingham. The men's team finished in first place after R. Baker, R. Johnson,
Damian Clay, and
Josiah Neal finished with a time of 3:17.14. It was the first time in four years that EIU has won that event. The women's team was able to grab fourth place with a time of 3:53.03. The event was run by
Alicia Adams,
Zakiya Johnson, S. Stinson, and A. Kollore.
