Results
URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, ILL -- Eastern Illinois Track & Field had two first place finishes, added some names to the EIU Top Ten record book, and set multiple new personal bests at the Illini Invitational at the University of Illinois this weekend.
The event began Friday with the hammer throw where on the women's side, all three EIU participants set new personal bests.
Clayre Shaver recorded a distance of 48.39m (158'9"),
Taylor Iverson recorded a distance of 46.89 (153'10"), and
Gracie Cox recorded a distance of 40.38m (132'5"). The Panthers then took the top two spots in the women's javelin throw, as
Danielle Scaduto registered a distance of 41.43m (135'11"), tying her for 6th place in EIU school history.Â
Caroline Lendy finished right behind her with a distance of 38.10m (125'). In the men's long jump,
Ramsey Hunt set a new personal record and moved up to third place in EIU school history, recording a distance of 7.75m (25'5.25") en route to a first place finish.Â
In Friday's field events, McKenna Wojcicki finished fifth with a time of 1:04.68 in the women's 400 meter hurdles, while
Hallee Thomas finished right behind her with a new personal best time of 1:04.99. In the men's 1500 meter dash,
Jaime Marcos finished in fourth place and set a new personal best with a time of 3:52.87.Â
Isai Morales (3:56.17) and
Andrew Pilat (4:00.53) both also set new personal bests.
In Saturday's track events, the Panthers took second place in the men's 4x100m relays, as the team of
Tadiwa Mhonde,
Sean Hopkins,
Jahleel Perrin, and
Ricky Johnson finished with a season best time of 40.97. In the women's 100 meter hurdles,
Akiya Kollore (13.67) and
Shanisa Stinson (13.71) finished in second and third place respectively, and move up to second and fourth place respectively in EIU school history. Wojcicki (14.44) and Thomas (14.58) also set new personal bests. In the men's 400 meter dash,
Ricky Johnson finished in fifth place with a time of 48.98, while
Greg Downs set a new personal best with a time of 50.25. In the men's 100 meter dash,
Sean Hopkins finished in second place and set a new personal best with a time of 10.44. The time ties him for eighth all-time in EIU school history. Perrin (10.69),
Colin Marchio (10.76), Miller (10.88), and
Jalen Echols (11.16) all also set new personal highs.
In the women's 800 meter dash,
Katie Springer finished in third place with a time of 2:18.05. Sheldon (2:23.75) and
Amani Jackson-Gladney (2:24.46) both set new personal bests. In the men's 800 meter dash, Morales finished in fourth place and set a new personal record with a time of 1:56.18.Â
Theo Paxton also set a new personal best with a time of 1:57.04. In the women's 4x400 meter relay, EIU's team of
Zakiya Johnson, Kollore, Stinson, and Wojcicki came in third place with a season best time of 3:52.27. In the men's 4x400, EIU's quartet of
Josiah Neal,
Ricky Johnson,
Damian Clay, and
Riley Baker finished in fourth place with a season best time of 3:18.77.
Next week, the Panthers will be in Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays at Drake University. The meet will be held from Thursday, April 28 to Saturday, April 30.
