Outdoor Track Competes At Indiana State

Panthers see multiple athletes finish in first place

CHARLESTON, ILL -- Eastern Illinois men's & women's Outdoor Track & Field competed in the Indiana State Pacesetter Sports Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Caroline Lendy earned her first first-place finish of the year in the women's Javelin Throw with a distance of 38.72 meters (127').  On Saturday, Ramsey Hunt picked up right where he left off last week, registering a distance of 7.20 meters (23'7.5") in the Long Jump for his second first place finish in the event in as many meets this season.  Matthew Gladieux finished third in the men's shot put, setting a new personal best with a distance of 15.92 meters (52'2.75").  In the women's discus throw, Marie Koch finished first and set a new personal record with a distance of 47.03 meters (154'3"), the fourth-longest distance in EIU school history.  In the women's triple jump, Tayn Tarquin finished in third place and set a new personal best with a distance of 11.01 meters (36'1.5").  In the men's Pole Vault, James Boyd finished in third place and set a new personal best with a distance of 4.52 meters (14'10").

For the Track portion of the event, Trevor Murphy finished in fourth place and set a new personal best with a time of 3:56.58 in the men's 1500 meter run.  The Panthers had two athletes finish in the top two spots in the women's 800 meter run as Kate Bushue finished first with a time of 2:16.54 and Katie Springer finished second and set a new personal best with a time of 2:17.99.  In the women's 400 meter hurdles, Hallee Thomas finished third and set a new personal best with a time of 1:05.98. 

The Panthers won both iterations of the steeplechase, as Kylie Decker finished in first place in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase, setting a new personal best with a time of 11:39.19 while Franky Romano finished first in the men's version of the event with a time of 9:26.58.

Up next, the Panthers will head out to Torrance, Calif. for the Mt. Sac Relays, which will be held Thursday, April 14-Saturday, April 16.
