MURRAY, Ky. -- Eastern Illinois Track & Field closes out day 1 of the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track Championships in Murray, Ky. EIU posted three first place finishes on the day and saw multiple athletes qualify for the finals of their respective events. The Panthers conclude the day ranked third in the men's standings with 40 points, and fourth in the women's standings with 21 points.
Highlighting the day for EIU was
Matthew Gladieux, who finished in first place in the men's discus throw with a distance of 52.95m. His distance set a new personal best. In the men's 10,000 meter dash,
Dustin Hatfield and
Jaime Marcos took the top two spots, finishing with times of 31:06.13 and 31:06.35, respectively.Â
Lindsey Carlson took the top spot in the women's 10,000 meter dash with a time of 37:06.16.
Elsewhere,
Marie Koch finished in third place in the women's discus throw with a distance of 46.49m, while
James Boyd finished in fifth place in the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.17m and
Aiden Meyer finished second in the men's decathlon with a mark of 3413.Â
Danielle Scaduto finished sixth in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 39.83m.
The championships will resume tomorrow, with day 2's events beginning at 9:00am CT.
