Eastern Illinois has announced a contract extension for women's basketball head coach Matt Bollant.  He is now under contract with the University through the 2024-25 season.

Coach Bollant, who will begin his sixth season as EIU's head coach this November, was hired as the ninth head women's basketball coach in EIU history on April 14, 2017.  He made an immediate impact, coaching the team to the third biggest win turnaround in program history in 2018-19 with plus eight.  In 2019-20, he coached the team to 19 overall wins, including 12 OVC wins and a fourth-place finish in the conference, the program's best record since 2012-13.  Overall, he coached the team to plus 16 wins from 2018-20, the second-largest win turnaround in the NCAA in that span.

He currently holds an overall career coaching record of 403-234 in 20 years of coaching, including 60 wins in his time at EIU.  Bollant has coached three first-team all OVC selections in his time at EIU in Karle Pace, Abby Wahl, and Lariah Washington, who was named first team All-OVC for the second time in her Panther career last season.  Under his guidance, the Panthers have made three consecutive OVC Tournament appearances.

The Panthers open up the 2022-23 season at 6 PM CT on Thursday, November 3 with an exhibition matchup against Millikin.
