Eastern Illinois women's tennis opens the 2023 spring season this weekend with the Panthers traveling to Northern Illinois on Friday before a Sunday afternoon trip to Illinois State.

EIU was selected to finish third in this year's Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll released earlier this week with the OVC Tournament slated for Paducah, Ky. on April 21-23.Â

EIU had two players selected to the preseason All-OVC players to watch list with
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova and
Christine Gouws. Bukraba-Ulanova was an All-OVC selection two seasons ago and last year played primarily at No. 2 singles posting eight wins. Gouws had six wins in singles play and posted seven wins in doubles play competing at both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions.

EIU returns seven players from last season's team that played in spring matches. The Panthers have added three newcomers this season with
Ashlee Shinabery also returning after redshirting last season.
