Cross Country With Strong Effort At Bradley Classic

Adam Swanson places third to lead Panther men

Adam Swanson turned in yet another strong effort as the senior placed third at the Bradley "Pink" Classic to lead the Eastern Illinois men's cross country team to a 12th place finish at the meet on Friday afternoon in Peoria, Ill.
 
Mackenzie Aldridge was the EIU women's top finisher with a 38th place finish as the Panthers placed 17th with teams competing at the 6K distance.
 
Swanson had his fourth top ten finish this season posting an 8K time of 24:17.90 as one of four EIU men's runners in the top 100.  
 
Richie Jacobo and Joe Stoddard finished near each other with Jacobo placing 64th and Stoddard crossing in 66th.  Jacob's time was 25:21.00 while Stoddard had a time of 25:21.40.
 
Michael Atkins and Noah Schalliol closed out EIU top five runners with Sam Cruz and Mason Stoeger the final two Panthers scored runners.  Atkins was 99th with a time of 25:41.80.  Schalliol was 129th with a time of 25:59.10.  Cruz was 141st at 26:07.80 and Stoeger crossed at 26:10.10 to place 146th.
 
Aldridge paced a group of EIU runners that placed in the top 65 in the women's 6K event.  Aldridge was 38th with a time of 21:59.50.  Sarah Carr was 59th with a time of 22:12.80 and Brenda Torres closed in 64th with a time of 22:17.40.
 
The final four EIU scored runners in the meet were Alex Gomez and Kylie Haacke as part of the top five scored runners.   Kylie Decker and Bella Marcum were the sixth and seventh scored runners for the Panthers.   Gomez was 124th with a time of 22:53.60.  Haacke was 152nd with a time of 23:14.80.  Decker was 156th with a time of 23:18.70.  Marcum was 178th at 23:32.30.
 
EIU had runners also compete in the White Division Race earlier in the day with the Panther men placed fourth led by Cale Smith with a 17th place finish in a time of 25:55.70.  Rachel Koon led the women's group of runners with a 61st place finish in the race with a time of 24:19.10 as the women were 11th.
 
The Panthers return to action on Oct. 28 at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships hosted by Morehead State.   EIU is the defending OVC champion on both the men's and women's side.
